Heart of America Science Resource Center Spring Newsletter

Another school year is coming to a close and the summer season is just around the corner.  Here is a recap of our recent events, as well as what we have planned for this summer.

Winter-Spring 2017

*Family Science Nights     Topics for this 6-week series of sessions in February and March were drawn from each of the six days of creation.  Led by Stan Bryant and DocRock, they were a great success.  The participation of several families resulted in the following testimony by one parent:

“My children have enjoyed the lessons and the hands-on activities. I have enjoyed learning about science and the Bible.  Because of Jerry’s and Stan’s talks about Christ and our lives and prayers, my son accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. I greatly appreciate the ministry here.  They are teaching us about God’s creation and leading us to Christ.”

*2017 TPA Convention     We connected with many homeschool families as well as other creation science ministries at our booth at the Teaching Parents Association convention held this year on March 10-11 in Wichita.

*Great Salt Plains Selenite Crystal Dig     We led a group of families to the Great Salt Plains near Cherokee, Oklahoma to dig selenite crystals on April 8.  After explaining to them the geology of the region from a biblical perspective, it was rewarding to see them enjoying God’s creation and participating in a wholesome family activity together.  We plan to lead another group of families April 29

*Special Activities     Several groups have come to the Center for activities and tours of the museum so far this year.  We would love to schedule a personalized activity with your group.

Summer 2017

*Heart of America Science Museum     The museum will be open each week on Friday and Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. beginning Friday, June 2 and ending Saturday, September 2 (Labor Day weekend).  We are also open by appointment. Please give us a call.  The museum is now free of charge, donations welcome.

*Astronomy Workshop     Heart of America plans to conduct another workshop this summer with continuing education units available for teachers.  This workshop is open to anyone high school age or older who is interested in learning about astronomy from a biblical perspective.  In addition to well-rounded teaching, inspiring videos, and hands-on lab activities, we will be viewing the heavens through a 12” telescope. The workshop will begin Monday evening, June 19 and conclude Thursday noon, June 22.  Please contact us for more information.

*Creation Day Camp     This 3-day camp led by Stan and Susan Bryant will be held Monday, July 24 through Wednesday, July 26 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm for students going into grades 3-8.  This camp fills up rapidly due to limited space, so please sign up early.  The cost is $10/day.

We are grateful for the many people who have contributed time, talents, and monetary resources to see this ministry thrive.  One of our ongoing volunteers commented: “Thank you so much for letting me be a part of this ministry. It has been amazing to watch God bring so many talented people together to grow it.  I know it has and will continue to defend and spread the truth of God’s Word to the lost and unbelieving world. I am excited and grateful to be included.  May God bless you all.”

In Christ,

Jerry and Linda Simmons
