The many hats of Sharyn Anderson-Campbell

Sharyn didn’t let her abuse as a child drag her down; rather she uses her background to mold her present-day goals and projects. The painful scars left by the abuse would turn anyone from the loving grace of Jesus, but she chose instead to accept the healing that could only come from the Savior.

She is co-pastor  of  Salt and  Light  Church  of  God  in  Fowler. She  also works as asecretary in the security department at Dodge City Community college. She is an accomplished author of “Back to School with Jesus” and “The Cry No One Heard.” In “The Cry No One Heard,” Sharyn reflects on the difficult growing years of her life where fear of rejection was paramount and her cry for help fell on deaf ears, especially within her family. Sharyn deepened her relationship and dependence on God, breaking free from the emotional chains of her abuse and finding forgiveness in her heart for her abusers. She provides prayer examples for forgiving abuse from others and for accepting the plan of salvation in one’s life.

In  the book, Sharyn shares  her  personal  story of  childhood abuse  and  how she hasovercome the pain thereof. She explains how prayer, forgiveness, and studying the Word of God delivered her from the bondage of anger, shame, and depression. Sharyn loves people and has apassion for those who are hurting.

Her newest book, “Back to School with Jesus” Sharyn gives children the understanding of what it means to have Jesus in their hearts. The book contains a prayer, game and children’s favorite songs about Jesus. In addition, the book contains scriptures for children to meditate on.

Sharyn’s hope is that children will gain knowledge to help them in school and throughout life as they make Jesus their choice.

The story of Salt and Light C.O.G. is just another example of how God has worked in Sharyn’s life. It begins with a call from God on the lives of Sharyn and Mark Campbell. In January of 2014, Sharyn called and told her father, Bishop James H. Anderson, Jr., that she had gotten married. Mark's sister asked them to come to Kansas and help with the Church. They sold their house, quit their jobs, and moved to Fowler, Kansas. Sharyn and Mark would alternate in their service to the Church. Sharyn was left to do the duties of the church, while Mark worked. Over the next few months, Sharyn and Mark would communicate further with Bishop Anderson. The weekend of July 4, 2014, they asked Bishop Anderson to come and do a revival in Meade, Kansas for 3 or 4 days. The revival went well. Sharyn and Mark were both diligent workers in the Church. Bishop Anderson asked them if God had called them to be ministers. They answered, "Yes, we really want to be active in the church and in the ministry." At the end of July, 2014, Sharyn and Mark Campbell and Bishop Anderson became co-founders of the Salt and Light C.O.G. in Fowler, Kansas.  After  completing  ordination  study  and  examination, the  Campbell's  were ordained in a special service, July 12, 2015.

The  vision  for  the Church  is  to  build  the  "Mother  Church"  in  Kansas  as  well  as  a seminary and churches nationally and internationally. This brings about the birth of Salt and Light C.O.G. in Lincoln, Nebraska. Bishop James H. Anderson, Jr. and First Lady Pastor Linda L. Anderson co-pastor the Church.

Because of her background of abuse, she is a big believer in advocating for children of abuse, Sharyn supports Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).

Sharyn has 20 years in the Loss Prevention field, 2 years as a Correctional Officer, and a year as a Police Officer, which taught her the importance of working well with others. Sharyn has more than 20 years of combined experience in Security and Law Enforcement.

She is also an active member of NAASCA - National Association of Adult Survivors of Child Abuse.  Through this  organization, Sharyn  actively  participates  in  on-line  dialogue, teaching and education to help others overcome the scars of child abuse.

In addition to her present roles, she is currently seeking a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry and Leadership at Liberty University online.
