A Word From The Publisher
If you are able to read this issue of Faith and Family, then I will have successfully made the transition to complete computerized production of the newspaper.
You may remember Neil Armstrong's words as he stepped onto the moon, "One small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind." Well, I feel like I'm making one giant leap in this transition. I've been using my trusty X-acto knife in building newspaper pages since the 70's. With today's software, I am able to produce the entire newspaper from the keyboard of my computer.
Another saying also comes to mind with this transition, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks." Well, this "old dog" is learning some new tricks...probably much slower than today's high school students.
Hopefully, reproduction will improve and make the photos more crisp and the type sharper and crisper also. Down the pike, I will also be able to liven up the page design with exciting graphics and color.
Of course, the only thing that is constant is change. Just two weeks after I bought the "newest and latest" software, the company announced a new version.
Were you surprised with John McCain's selection of his vice-presidential candidate? I think everyone was surprised, and the most surprised is the Democratic party and the liberal media. Some of the media even attacked her because she was Pentecostal for twenty years. Give me a break; this lady lives her faith....and I like that.
I am not a Bible scholar nor an educated historian, but I see this nation's values following closely those of other fallen giants such as Rome and Greece. When their morals hit bottom, so did their world leadership. Are we next?
I encourage you to educate yourself on all candidates and what they stand for. Do not take the word of ANY media. ALL media is prejudiced one way or another...yes, I admit that I am conservatively prejudiced. VOTE YOUR VALUES!
